Filtration

Why we are suggesting the Big Blue Twin

Range for “All of House” Filtration

  • 5 micron Sediment Filter – Due to most water being pre-treated or of reasonable quality, we can reduce the filter rating to 5 micron. This will remove dirt/sediment particles prior to them entering your more expensive carbon filter. If the dirt and Sediment are not filtered out before contact with the carbon filter, they can cause premature blocking of the carbon filter. A 5 micron Sediment Filter will still allowing a good flow through the filter. So using the sediment filter prior to the carbon filter will prolong the working life of your more expensive carbon filter.
  • 5 Micron Carbon Block Filter – Removes Taste/Odour and Chemical Factors. We recommend using a 5 micron filter for higher flow rate, given that the 5 micron sediment filter is already doing the hard work blocking the dirt and sediment particles, the micron rating of the carbon filter is irrelevant. Therefore, we are able to offer a higher rated carbon block filter at a lower cost, rather than a more expensive I micron carbon filter which may otherwise be supplied.
  • Superior Housing Quality – all our Big Blue systems are of the highest available quality. They will withstand all town pressure supplies and come complete with an attractive and robust white painted steel bracket and stainless steel screws.
  • Choosing 20” Systems over 10” Systems - this system is a 20” (big blue) with 1” in/out ports, allows for full flow, therefore no interrupted pressure or flow drop will be experienced in a system of this size. The 20” system will cater for the largest family home. These systems are also available in a 10” design. A 10” system will lessen the initial cost outlay; however, the 10” filters will need to be replaced more frequently. Therefore over time it is not as economical as using the 20” system. The 20” filters are deemed to last from 6-12 months before replacement is necessary, with very little extra cost, as opposed to the 10”.

Ultra Violet

Sterilization

The ultraviolet germicidal system has become an exceptionally popular water disinfection alternative. Modern technology is incorporated to create the most natural purification.Ultraviolet lamps produce germicidal short wave radiation, which eradicates bacteria, viruses and other kinds of microbiological contamination present in all water supplies.

Suitable for ALL OF HOUSE use.

These are recommended levels, for use as a guideline for pre-treatment requirements:Hardness: <120ppm
Turbidity: <1.0NTU
Iron: <0.3ppm
Manganese: <0.05ppm
Tannins: <0.1ppm

If your water quality parameters do not meet these criteria, please contact the distributor for pre-treatment recommendations.

Minerals in the water will build up on the quartz sleeve and on the vessel. This coating must be cleaned off periodically because it reduces the amount of UV light reaching the water, therefore reducing disinfection performance.Depending on the water quality, it is advised to clean the unit at least every time the lamp is changed.

If the unit has been turned off, it is recommended to disinfect the unit and the water lines.

Required: Pre-treatment must include at least a 5 micron sediment filter installed prior to the unit in order to ensure that particles capable of shielding pathogens are removed from the water prior to entering the system. The vessel is rated to 100Kpa. The unit must be installed with an Australian Standards Approved Pressure Limiting Valve.

A shut off valve must be installed prior to the unit in order to turn the water off for servicing and to ensure the flow is restricted to the parameters of the unit.Ensure adequate clearance at the lamp connection end of the unit in order to safely remove the lamp from the chamber for servicing and lamp replacement. Space required is at least the length of the UV chamber.

EARTHING
Before operating this unit, it must be earthed. Simply attach the supplied earthing cable connected to the chamber to an earthing rod.

TECHNICAL DATA
UV systems are not designed to be turned on and off. Doing this will shorten your lamp life. Lamps should be changed every year. The lamp may still be working, but after 1 year, the power will not be guaranteed to kill bacteria. The unit should be cleaned regularly. Hardness and other particles can build up on the quartz sleeve and on the inside of the UV chamber. 9000 hours (1 year) lamp life Working Pressure 100PSI

Undersink Filtration

(for drinkable water)

This is a basic kit, suitable for tank water supply. NOT for use on municipal water supply, unless you fit a PLV (Pressure Limiting Valve). PLV’s are available for purchase on request.

Contains AUS Standards Approved ‘Premium Twin O-ring’ Filter Housings

The filter cartridges in this system are of very high quality.

The sediment filter is 0.5 micron, which assists in the protection of Giardia cysts from entering the water. This is essential when drinking tank water, and/or some town water supplies. Remember, chlorinated water will not guarantee protection from Giardia cysts’ or cyst eggs that are regularly known to travel through larger sized filters into the body and cause serious illness.

The carbon filter is a high quality 1 micron H2-Blue 100% Coconut Carbon Block, which will remove any taste/odour or chemical factors. Flow rate is 10 Ltrs / min, which is a high flow rate for a high quality filter.
Cartridge Size is the standard Australia Size: 10″ x 2.5″

Kit Contains:
0.5 micron Sediment Filter, 1 micron Carbon Block Filter, Opening Spanner, 1/2″ Threaded Water Inlet Block and Plastic Valve, 2 mtrs 1/4″ Tubing (white), Comprehensive Instructions, Standard Faucet Tap, Quick Connect Hose Fittings, Generic Packing Box, 1 x Roll Thread TapeNote: Pressure Limiting Valves are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if using on town water supplies. They are used to protect the equipment from potential damage. Many insurance companies are not paying on water damages claims unless systems are fitted with a PLV. To include a PLV with this kits quote part number: GT1-46WPLV
